Who We Are
Pediatric Therapy Associates is a private practice located
in Birmingham, Alabama and established in 1981. We provide specialized
pediatric physical and occupational therapy to children with disabilities,
injuries, and educational challenges across a variety of settings. Our focus
includes school-based therapy,
in-services,
early intervention, private outpatient therapy, and
community
service. Our therapy staff is highly
qualified with specialty skills to meet the needs of the children we serve who
range in age from birth to 21 years. We have built long-lasting relationships
with many of our clients and families as we assist them with therapy issues,
educational transitions, adaptive equipment, consultation regarding orthotics, and orthotic fabrication. We continue to serve our clients as adults
by providing specialized
consultation and therapy services to ensure an active and full life.
We are also involved with organizations that
support and promote the participation of our children in community activities. Some of the programs we have been involved in are
these:
- Special Equestrians - a horseback riding program for the disabled
- Challenger Leagues- an adapted baseball program (check for one in your
area)
- Special Olympics - athletic events for the multiply handicapped (we have
coordinated and run events since 1977)
- AmTryke® Therapeutic Tricycle - adapted tricycles
for children with special needs that are distributed based on available
funding
